This website is dedicated to providing the citizens of The Natural State with an alert about Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) permit activity. Those who subscribe to our free Permit Action Notification will receive information about a permit pending status for new permits or permit modifications.
The Arkansas Environmental Defense Alliance (AEDA) monitors the ADEQ online website databases for permitting activities. Information obtained from these databases will be emailed as an alert to our subscribers. The email alert will contain a link to the ADEQ website database where you, the subscriber, can select the permit number for more detailed information.
AEDA is strongly committed to preserving transparency necessary for public awareness and oversight of businesses, municipalities or individuals seeking permits that could impact our environment.
In 2016, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) removed the mandatory requirement to provide public notice of certain air permits through publication in a newspaper. The final rule allows for e-notice of permitting actions and requires e-access to the draft permit. Similar change to the Clean Water Act has been proposed by the EPA.
It is possible that the Arkansas Legislature may follow this action and approve a law that no longer requires public newspaper notice of pending permit activity. The general public will then be required to navigate the ADEQ website for permit notices.
AEDA knows that timely notice of permit changes is absolutely critical for public comment and for minimizing the risk of harm to the citizens, wildlife and other natural resources in the area of permit sites near you.
Our goal is to provide the citizens of the Natural State with a way to alert our email subscribers that live within 25 miles of the facility seeking a permit. The custom notification system checks the zip code of the facility against a complete list of geo-located zip codes. When a facility is added to our system, the zip code of the facility is used to determine if your zip code falls within 25 miles of the facility. If you are within this radius, you will receive an email to alert you of a pending permit activity.
Subscribe to our Permit Action Notification alerts email list today and join with the Arkansas Environmental Defense Alliance (AEDA) to protect our precious natural resources and keep the citizens of Arkansas informed of potentially hazardous or environmentally destructive permit applications.
